Playing with my stamps....

So I was playing around with my new "Stampin Up" stamps tonight and made a few new cards.

They are pretty lame. I think I'm stuck in a card rut. I noticed that my cards tonight were very dichromatic, basic layouts, and very symmetrical. I need to find ways to spice them up, and use multiple colors.....Any sugggestions?

Those are some really cute cards! I especially like the valentine and the friends but they are all cute.

For an example, he second one. . . if the horizonttal paper had been replaced with a contrasting ribbon in the same manner, and then the top rectangle elevated with a pop dot, it would really stand out.

The red believe one has beautiful paper and message. I would have made it stand out by using a black paper under the red with an eighth of an inch standing out on all sides to frame it and maybe stamped the word on a wide white ribbon instead of paper. I think these things would make that beautiful red and white paper really stand out.

they are all nice cards. if you feel you are in a rut - try doing sketch challenges and/or color challenges. these will help you to step outside of the norm for your card making by using colors you normally wouldn't use and sketches that are different. while you don't have to follow the sketch exactly, maybe then take a portion of the design and make it your own. sometimes just adding an embellishment can also change the look of the whole card - ribbon, brads, eyelets, flowers, metal (to name a few). try experimenting with different things to see what you like best (my personal fav are ribbon and flowers).

there are lots of different sites that provide different challenges (some daily). if you want, feel free to email me knk75@aol.com and I can send you some links that might help.
