Girl Birthday Card

This was for a friend's daughter. The papers are all from DCWV Spring 2007 stack. The flowers are white cardstock I punched with a paper puncher (the daisies along the top are just two flower punches layered together).

The stamp is from a Stampendous word stamp set, and is stamped in white chalk ink and touched up with a white paint pen.

The top stripe is accented with white satin ribbon. The dashes on the bottom strip were made with a white paint pen. The center of the flowers were made using the same paper as the strips and a normal hole punch.

This year I made a few cards for Holidays for Heroes, a program by the Red Cross to deliver mail to American service members.

Some New Birthday Cards

This card was for a friend who is a mathematician. The inside read "and so is age".
This card was made from DCWV Spring Stack 2007, with a stamp from a Stampin Up set, I just used some colored pencils to fill in the stamp.
This card used paper from the DCWV 2007 Spring Stack, and stamps from a set from Stampin Up.

This card was for my BIL, who is in the Marine Corps. I was trying to use up some grey/black brick paper from one of the Slab stacks, and I thought this was a fun take on a "WANTED" poster. Instead of the "CAPTURED" across the picture, I used a Happy Birthday stamp from Inkadinkadoo.
This birthday card was for my FIL, who likes Westerns. The stamp is from Stampendous. I used metallic gel pen to make the cactus thorns.

Cards I Didn't Make :)

I'm so glad all of you keep posting cards! I have been to two card-making nights in the last month where someone pulled up this blog on the computer to copy an idea. We all have different styles and it is so fun to think outside of my own card-making rut. I appreciate your posts -- even when I don't have time to comment! I think a lot more people appreciate your posts than make comments.
I recently received some cute cards in the mail. Here are a few of them. And yes, I know, I'm breaking the slideshow "rule." Enjoy!

A fun, simple idea using embroidery floss - the ink smudge in the middle is from my kids. Cute idea, Catherine!

A fun way to make an exclamation point with a tag and a heart. Thanks, Maren!

My Grandma J. (who knows my family loves smiley faces) made this card for my 4-yr-old son. I especially love the rectangle strips.

This is my favorite Grandma J. card, ever!! It is so simple and so elegant.

This is from my step-mom, Jan - I love the symmetry and all the little stamps. I never know how to use my little stamps!

Can someone post the cards from Cami's party? The other Julie said that is great as long as we give her credit. My camera is doing a horrible job at taking pictures right now (that's code for I'm exhausted and going to bed =).

Thanks for looking!

Just For You

I made this card for a young lady in our church congregation that is leaving for BYU-Idaho. It looks kind of crappy, since I found out about the "surprise" party about 45 minutes before I had to leave.

The paper is from DCWV Spring Stack 2007. The phrase stamp is from Stampendous.

Just for you

A friend of mine has a friend back in the states who is having a hard time, so I made a random card for her to send to this friend.

Happy Spring, Everybody!

This picture is terrible. The card is white in real life. Looking at this picture, I think I'll probably lightly shade the boy and the horse. Anyway, it's a card and I actually posted it. You guys have inspired me to post more!
This is a card designed especially for my Stampin' Up Grandma J...hopefully she won't see it before she receives it in the mail! She is so amazing and is always making cards for my family - for Easter, Valentines Day, Halloween, birthdays, etc.

Happy Spring!
p.s. If you want to be an author, put your email in a comment and I'll add you!

Easter Thank You Cards

These are two thank you cards I made for some of my husband's co workers. They worked on the annual Easter Egg Hunt for his work group (the bottom one was for the sweet man who dressed up as the easter bunny). The papers are from the DCWV 2007 Spring Stack.

Card Class Project Ideas

Okay, so I am teaching a card making class for our church's women's auxillary on March 11th. The theme I was given for the class was "Basic cards for every occassion".

I've come up with a few ideas, and I'd like some advice. Each participant will be making 4 cards, and I can't decide on which 4 to use. I won't tell you what my favorites are, 'cause I want some objective advice.

I would greatly appreciate it, if you could take a look at all of them, and let me know which are your 4 favorites. Just leave a comment with the card numbers (I've numbered them all). Be honest, be critical, and if you want, give me some advice on how I can make them better, or other designs I might want to consider.

Thanks!

P.S. Thanks to all of you for the great ideas that I pirated!

New Birthday cards

Here are some of my newest birthday cards.

The pink one (I actually made two), is for my niece's birthday.

The green one is for my nephew's birthday.

The Jolly Roger card, was for a little boy that is my son's friend. He was having a "pirate" themed party.

Playing with my stamps....

So I was playing around with my new "Stampin Up" stamps tonight and made a few new cards.

They are pretty lame. I think I'm stuck in a card rut. I noticed that my cards tonight were very dichromatic, basic layouts, and very symmetrical. I need to find ways to spice them up, and use multiple colors.....Any sugggestions?

My new stamp

In answer to Sandra's post here is one I got at Hobby Lobby yesterday. I really like it. The violet stamp I posted last week I haven't figured out what to do with. I have no imagination on these things and I'm constantly looking for ideas. Every stamp should come with pictures of different ways to use it. lol. The name of the company on this one is Hampton Art Stamps and their address is hamptonart.com if you are interested.
