Card Class Project Ideas

Okay, so I am teaching a card making class for our church's women's auxillary on March 11th. The theme I was given for the class was "Basic cards for every occassion".

I've come up with a few ideas, and I'd like some advice. Each participant will be making 4 cards, and I can't decide on which 4 to use. I won't tell you what my favorites are, 'cause I want some objective advice.

I would greatly appreciate it, if you could take a look at all of them, and let me know which are your 4 favorites. Just leave a comment with the card numbers (I've numbered them all). Be honest, be critical, and if you want, give me some advice on how I can make them better, or other designs I might want to consider.

Thanks!

P.S. Thanks to all of you for the great ideas that I pirated!

Blank Card

This is about the same as the last one but I used little strips of paper for the corners and between the pattern paper and plain. It doesn't show in the picture but it's a burgundy color and matches one of the flowers in the patterned paper.

Kopy Kat

I'm trying to make up a few blank cards to sent shut-ins at church. I sorta copied this from another site. I wanted photo corners but I couldn't figure out to make them so this is what I ended up with.

card file

I haven't posted in a long time so I thought I would look through my card ideas and post a few. I like to get on www.splitcoaststampers.com (absolutely love this site--if you haven't tried it, it is well worth it!!) and find ideas. For a while I was making cards for my MK lady so I would find an idea on SCS site and simplify it. I wish I had saved some of the original ideas to show what I did differently but these aren't cards that I recently made though I am sure if you look up the stamp name, you will find the much more detailed image. This helped me to make mass quantities of cards with less work. Enjoy.

This card uses Lexicon of Love stamp set with some paper that I think I got from Michaels.

Both of these cards (above and below) use the Paris in the Spring stamp set. The one above was for a bridal shower and the bottom one was a thank you card for my MK lady to give to her customers.

New Birthday cards

Here are some of my newest birthday cards.

The pink one (I actually made two), is for my niece's birthday.

The green one is for my nephew's birthday.

The Jolly Roger card, was for a little boy that is my son's friend. He was having a "pirate" themed party.

Stampin up

This is what we did at my party! These designs were created by Julie Alberda, my Stampin' Up demonstrator. Enjoy...

The fifth project was a candy container, sorry I cannot scan that.

Auction Cards - FINISHED!!

FEW - they are done! I can't tell you how relieved I am. Thanks for letting me borrow ideas (and stuff) - including your last card, Dot, as well as Anna, Barbara, Melanie, Denise and Bri. Thanks especially to Cami for helping me make these (& for convincing me to contribute to the auction)!! You've seen some before, but I wanted to include them all in the slideshow.

Card Question

So I am looking at expenses for this card class I am supposed to teach (I am so not worthy, anyone want to teach it for me?). For those of you that have gone to classes/workshops in the past, what do they provide? I was thinking today of all the card supplies I'll need, and then realized I hadn't budgeted for envelopes. Do they usually provide envelopes at these card classes?

Thanks for all of you good ideas (I'll be stealing some of them for the class)!

Posting Idea - Please Read!

I have been thinking of our earlier discussion about the best way to post cards, etc. I have an idea - if you are posting more than three cards (& if you have time), go to www.slide.com and make a quick slideshow. You then embed it into the Html part of your post. If you need help, let me know. That way we can see more cards in the same amount of space. I'll try to post one later today or tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

Same Stamp

I stamped the background on this one.

Thinking of You

I made this for a friend whose mother passed away last week. I'm not so sure about the ribbon. I never seem to have the right color ribbon so I end up using white on everything.

Playing with my stamps....

So I was playing around with my new "Stampin Up" stamps tonight and made a few new cards.

They are pretty lame. I think I'm stuck in a card rut. I noticed that my cards tonight were very dichromatic, basic layouts, and very symmetrical. I need to find ways to spice them up, and use multiple colors.....Any sugggestions?

My new stamp

In answer to Sandra's post here is one I got at Hobby Lobby yesterday. I really like it. The violet stamp I posted last week I haven't figured out what to do with. I have no imagination on these things and I'm constantly looking for ideas. Every stamp should come with pictures of different ways to use it. lol. The name of the company on this one is Hampton Art Stamps and their address is hamptonart.com if you are interested.

Stamps

I'm looking to get some new stamps. Any suggestions on some good ones?

Some basic cards

My MIL sent me some "Stampin Up" stamps, and I wanted to try them out. I have some really old paper I've been trying to find a way to use, so I combined the two. These are the results.

I want to send her one (to say thanks for the stamps), but not sure which one is the best. Any ideas?

Auction Card #1

After much deliberation, I decided to contribute ten homemade cards to my daughter's upcoming school auction. I made my first card last night. I feel a lot of pressure to make really nice cards - especially since she goes to a school with a lot of affluence. Thanks to Roni for convincing me to do it and for offering to help! Here are my first attempts. I was trying to make cards unlike the ones I've done before. Sorry the lighting is so terrible. They are white and the heart and flower are popped up a little. We all know cards are cuter in real life. :)

Which do you like better?

A new stamp and a question

I got this in the bargain bin at Hobby Lobby a few days ago. I have colored pencils but no purple. I have some brush pens but they cover up too much. Can ya'll give me some suggestions on what to buy to color with?

Awesome Card Idea Website

I hesitate to put this site on here, because I don't want everyone to quit using this blog!! :) This site allows you to type in any Stampin' Up stamp set by name and it will pull up cards to match your stamps. Or you can just browse through ideas, but there are thousands. Good luck!

More Keepsake Cards...

This is my latest batch of keepsake cards.

This one is for a young couple (newlyweds), where the husband is down range (hence the use of pinks, reds, and lots of hearts). I included some tags and other embellishments.

This one is for a mother and her 6 children (hence the larger foldout), whose husband and father, is down range. I included a little packet of embellishments for them to choose from.
