Washington Apple DSP Birthday Card & Kid Creativity

Here is a birthday card I made today when my daughter said, "Mom lets stamp." (there is glitter on that present in the white spots, but for some reason it didnt scan) So I couldnt say no. She is 3 and 3/4 year old. She made the following:

For Ben his thesis did defend

His languished schooling put to end

And with the help of faithful friends

In Bellevue works, malaria quelling

And all the while fair Bri was found

Getting bigger, growing round

Another sister coming down

Always crafting, sewing, baking

While Ginny has the magic touch

Counting, writing words and such

Violet talks and talks so much

Two baby, One Grad

So I needed some baby boy cards believe it or not. And so I did these two simple ones. Got the idea from the SU catalog.

Sorry this one is harder to see.


Lastly this is my husbands Grad announcement. Its nothing fancy, but it was about time to get it done. Also inspired by the SU catalog.

SU regionals Seattle '09

So I went with my Stampin Up demonstrator Julie Alberda to the SU regionals here in Seattle. It was a lot of fun. We spent a whole day swapping card fronts, making new projects, learing techniques, and winning prizes. Below are pictures of the three cards I made to swap. This was a little tricky because you could only use current SU products and you had to have at least one embellishment like brads, eyelets, or ribbon. It was fun to have to follow rules and see what people came up with.

birthday and birds cards

This first one is designed by my Stampin Up demonstrator Julie Alberda. I love it! You can't really tell with the scan but the birds are pink polka-dotted.


This one I made for my friend Julie V's Birthday. The little bird is cut out and on a dimentional.


This one is for my niece Ella. I basically copied this out of the Stampin' Up catalog.


And here is a birthday card I made with the idea of the first card I posted. The cool part is the scalloped edge is made with eight small circles that I punched out and glued on. Thanks for the cool tip Julie A!

Baby cards

Some of us got together and made cards last night. I think we all made baby cards. I did two of each of these cards. I am not in love with them but oh well. sorry its a little blurry. Julie and Jessica you should post yours!

My girls bday invites

My girls birthdays are a week apart. Its crazy! Violet is turning one on the 24th and here is her birthday invitation. The stamp sets are from stampin up. The set with the fish is "Life's a breeze" the circle is from "Party hearty" and the number 1 is from "A happy heart." the balloon stamp is from a stamp I have thats says thanks on it with a balloon.


This is Ginny's bday invitation. Her birthday is the 31st. The stamp for the cake is from the set called "Birthday whimsy" and I punched the hearts out of designer paper. Enjoy!

Girl Birthday Card

This was for a friend's daughter. The papers are all from DCWV Spring 2007 stack. The flowers are white cardstock I punched with a paper puncher (the daisies along the top are just two flower punches layered together).

The stamp is from a Stampendous word stamp set, and is stamped in white chalk ink and touched up with a white paint pen.

The top stripe is accented with white satin ribbon. The dashes on the bottom strip were made with a white paint pen. The center of the flowers were made using the same paper as the strips and a normal hole punch.

Its A Girl

So I finally found out what that design sketch thing was that some of you were talking about. I saw one on someones blog and was inspired to do this. I think if we want to start doing them together on here that would be fun!

So quickly, I stamped flowers on the card and rolled flower on the pink paper. Stamped a baby and colored her in, but her on a scalloped circle Thanks Jessica! and tied a bow around it. I also stamped Its a girl and colored in with my white pen the daisys, the centers of some flowers and the baby's poka dots and zipper.

Hoppy Birthday Sophie

I made this card for my niece. I stamped some yellow gifts on the card in a pattern. Then I stamped two frogs in dark green and sponged them to color them in with a lighter green. Then I cut out the frogs. Okay that took awhile. After that I stamped two presents and cut one in half. Put the sitting frog on the long present and the jumping frog holding the small present. Stamped "hoppy birthday" cut it out and Tag Corner punched it, mounted it on blue and punched it again. Finally I tied a red ribbon and cut a wavy edge. I also colored the paper behind the wave with a yellow marker to make it stand out more.

You Take the Cake!

This is a birthday card for a friend of mine.

I stamped the light purple card with flowers and those little flourishes. Then I stamped the cupcake. This time with chocolate frosting! I did the colors by coloring the stamp with markers. Then I filled in the sprinkles and sponged around the cupcake. Cut out the cupcake and "tag corner" punched two corners. I stamped the stamp "you take the cake" with white on the dark purple and mounted the cupcake on that paper. I left room between the words and the cake to make a bow. Then I put the cupcake/word/bow piece of paper on 5 dimentionals to adhere it to the card. To give it the popped out effect. :)

Thanksgiving Card

So I cut the brown paper with scalloped scissors and then I put small holes in the scallops for a lace look. I punch a hole in the brown paper and stamped some leaves on the top half randomly. Then on an orange paper I stamped "ever grateful" and glued it on. Apparently I was working fast because its crooked! oh well. Then I colored in the turkey with markers. Oh and don't forget to save the scrap that you cut your scalloped edge with and glue it on the inside at the top. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Birthday card

This card was made by: rounding the corners of the green paper then stamping it with a small pattern. Then tie a bow around the green paper. On a white paper stamp your cupcake, use eyelets for sprinkles and color in the other sprinkles. Stamp a candle. Outline some things to make them show up better. Mount on a lighter color. Then using the word window punch, punch out a saying a glue it on. Ta-da!

Breast Cancer Month

I sent this card out to the breast cancer surviors I know last month.

My little sister (8 years old) painted papers for me and that is the background. One flower is raised by a dimentional. The rest is stamped and I did some sponging for the water and on the celebrate life word window. Its a little hard to see.

Birthday Bonanza

I have made a slew of birthday cards for my multitude of family members. I am especially fond of the rubber ducky one (my little sister loves rubber ducks) and the fishing theme (for my grandpa who loves to fish).

For the Duck card, I tried to draw a rubber duck looking shape, and then cut out an orange shape for the bill. I made the bubbles using punches, and coloring them with a white paint pen.

For the Fishing Card, I used a water patterned paper, and a sand colored paper for the "shore". I made a wood sign, and used a Stampendous Happy Birthday stamp. The fish is from a Provo Craft paper pack. I made the pail using tin foil and paper (the handle is made with floral wire). The fishing pole is a twig from my backyard, and I made a reel with floral wire, used clear nylon thread for fishing line, and made a hook (using floral wire) and lure (using ribbon that I shredded).

The other cards are pretty standard design.

Mother's Day

I made this one for my Mom. The picture didn't turn out well, but the background paper is purple from DCWV spring stack. I punched out white dots and made a "pearl" necklace, using silver eyelets and wire for the clasp, and put it on vellum.

Just For You

I made this card for a young lady in our church congregation that is leaving for BYU-Idaho. It looks kind of crappy, since I found out about the "surprise" party about 45 minutes before I had to leave.

The paper is from DCWV Spring Stack 2007. The phrase stamp is from Stampendous.

Just for you

A friend of mine has a friend back in the states who is having a hard time, so I made a random card for her to send to this friend.

New Baby Boy

My friend just had a baby, and part of her gift from me was some handmade baby announcements. They aren't spectacular, but here is what they looked like.



I also did a "keepsake" page for her scrapbook, what was done in the same sort of style as the announcement.

The background paper is DCWV Spring stack 2007.
